CREATING RECORDS
MISS ISABELLE BROOK, of Auckland, one of New Zealand’s leading dancers, who has delighted Aucklanders with her charming dancing at the Regent Theatre and other entertainments. This young dancer put up a record for New Zealand recently, having won first prize in the open section of the competitions festival for toe, operatic, Spanish, character, classic (tied with Peggy Holmes) and dance duo (with Peggy Holmes). Miss Madeline Vyner, the judge, who trained with the great Russian teacher in London, Princess Astafieva, remarked to the competitions audiences that the Misses Brook and Holmes were above the amateur status, and their work was the best she had seen in New Zealand. Both are pupils of Cecil Hall. Tornquist photo.
