POPULATION INCREASES OUTLOOK FOR BACHELORS Press Association WELLINGTON, Thursday. The estimated population of the I*>minion, including dependencies ana mandated territory, at September 1928, totalled 1,515,267, of whom 77Lh> h were males and 741,031 females. The estimated Maori population accounted for 65,212, the Cook Islands, Niue, etc-» for 14,352, and the* mandated terri* tory of Western Samoa for 43,169- Oi the Maoris in New Zealand it is estimated 62,320 are in the North Island and 2,892 in the South IslandThe figures for September 30, IRb* showed a total population of 1,507,96'New Zealand proper, including Maon®. accounted for 1,450,114 of this number* the Maoris totalling 64,603. Other iteins in the grand total were: Cook Island*, Niue, etc., 14,178; Western Samoa, 42,642; Tokelau Islands, 1,033.
