THE SOCCER SPLIT
CELTIC SEEKS AFFILIATION WITH A.F.A. An interesting development in connection with the Soccer split which occurred in Auckland last winter is the application of the Celtic Club for affiliation with the Auckland Football Association. This club was formed after the Thistle breakaway, and included several prominent placers from the original Thistle Club, Murray Kay and Carter being two Auckland reps. In making its application, Celtic indicated that it had notified the City and Suburban Association of its withdrawal from that association. The unexpected nature of the application came as a surprise to the A.F.A., and the delegates of those clubs represented at this week’s meeting. After considerable discusison, it was decided to make a favourable recommendation to the New Zealand Council, in whose hands the final decision rests.
