It was effected by having engines with five, six, eight, ten and 11 cylinders respectively, and, needless to say, this policy enabled a vast amount of the remaining portions of the engines to be standardised. An investigation of the engines passing through a works build mg four-cycle motors showed that there were 16 similar sets comprising 100 standard cylinders of equal dimensions, the engines being six, seven and eight-cylinder units.
