“FIRST PAST POST”

Labour finishes slowly and United is so far behind as not to be counted. "Reform will be over the hurdles and past the post with plenty of votes to spare,” he said at Epsom last evening. The United Party was called by Mr. Bunn the “South Sea Bubble” Party on account of its borrowing proposals. Labour’s aims were equally fallacious. “Are you then going to have a Labour Government in New Zealand?” aaked the candidate. "Australia’s annual interest bill is £57,000,000. It has not a ‘bean’ to meet Its liabilities. In New Zealand we have a surplus. If we are on the road to ruin, as Labour members state, where Is Australia going to?”
