Although it did not manage to strike form early in the season, the Marist League team rose to brilliant heights toward the close of the football year, winning in quick succession the Roope Rooster, the Champion of Champions shield and the Knock-out Club Tournament. With a fine set of bustling forwards, headed by Moisley, Jim O’Brien and Noble, it owed the climax of its brilliant team work to the Gregory-Brisbane-Kirwin combination, Brisbane especially reaching form tow ard the close of the season which entitled him to be ranked as the most brilliant centre-threequarter in New Zealand.
