Press Association WELLINGTON, Sunday. Cricket matches at Wellington yesterday resulted:—Old Boys, 21S, defeated Petone, 11D and 60 (Badcoclt, six for 22). University, 338. defeated Kilbirnie, 88 and six wickets for 99. Midland, 202, defeated Institute, 194. Wellington (declared in second innings at six wickets for 116), defeated Ilutt, 151 and three wickets for 112. SHEFFIELD SHIELD GAME QUEENSLAND V. N.S.W. (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) BRISBANE, Sunday. The first Sheffield Shield match Queensland versus New South Wales, was opened in brilliant sunshine on an excellent wicket. Queensland won tile toss and batted. There were occasional flashes of bright play, with a line partnership between O’Connor (72) and Gougli (67). Higgins made 47 not out, but two prominent batsmen, K. Oxenham (1) and Thompon (29) were out quickly. Tho score when stumps were drawn was 293 for seven wickets.

FINE BATTING PERFORMANCE (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) SYDNEY, Sunday. For the grade cricket matches yesterday the weather was good. Batting for Northern District against Manly, Buckle made 123 and Thomas 79. For Paddington against Waveriev, Asher made 103. For St. George against Western Suburbs Rembert made 92 and Mealey 71. For Gordon against University, Sullivan made 84 not out. For Marrickville against Randwick, Alderton made 83. B’or Mosman against Petersham, Salmon made 72.
Bowling for Paddington, Gregory took six for 39. For Western Suburbs Burt took seven for 73. For Petersham. Andrei** took four for 53. A feature of the Great Public Schools’ match*# was Terry’s splendid batting for King’s Stdiool against Scots’ College. He scored 245, unfinished.
