SPINSTERS’ BALL HELD AT TE PUKE
FLOWER DECORATIONS The spinsters of Paengaroa held a most successful ball in return for the bachelors’ hospitality. The committee, consisting of Misses?. Vercoe, Noble, Black, Wilson, Appleton and Smith, had the hall beautifully decorated with Japanese lanterns. Large sprays of clematis hung round the wall. The overhead part looked like a woodland bower being decorated with lycopodium and streamers. Music was supplied by the Dixie Three Orchestra. Extras were played bv Miss Plaice and Miss Wilson. A delicious supper was given by the spinsters. Those present were: Mesdames I. Vercoe, black pailette; Mundt, black crepe de chine; Harman, beige georgette; Misses I. Mundt, green crepe de chine; N. Mundt, pink crepe de chine; J. Vercoe, pale pink taffeta; G. Boucher (Rotoi'ua), powder blue georgette; V. Smith, red silk; U. Black, black velvet; V. Noble, mauve crepe de chine; L. Tanner, pink geox-gette; D. Tanner, black velvet; M. Plaice, vieux rose; Taylor, cerise taffeta; M. Kerr, mauve satin; H. Matthews, leaf green crepe de chine; Mrs. Mends, pale green with shawl to tone.
