POSTMEN’S WELFARE
FIRST ANNUAL SOCIAL A tentative programme for the season was outlined by Mr. G. A. Eastick at the Postmen’s Welfare Club smoke concert on Saturday evening. Socials and picnics had been planned and the club’s activities would cover a much wider range than had hitherto been the case. According to Mr. Eastick, the club had been formed 12 months ago. but its prosperity dated from the arrival of its president and the chairman of the evening, Mr. J. W. Brooker. The club was not dissatisfied with the present circumstances, but merely attended to the personal welfare of officers. A canteen and a library had been established, and other conveniences were in view. Mr. Eastick suggested that the proposed picnics would mean work for the Presentation Committee. There was a large attendance, and during the evening a number of artists headed by Mr. W. J. Meredith and Professor Maxwell Walker gave enjoyable items.
