CONFIDENCE IN LABOUR
MR. BARTRAM AT KINGSLAND INTERRUPTIONS FREQUENT There .was plenty of cross-talk and interjection, relevant and otherwise, when Mr. F. N. Bartram, Labour candidate for Grey Lynn, addressed electors at St. George’s Hall, Kingsland. He was supported by Mr. W. E. Parry. Labour candidate for Auckland Central. Mr. Bartram gave a short address which was frequently interrupted, and there were brisk passages between the interrupter and the candidate's supporters in the audience. Mr. Parry, in criticising the United Party, said Sir Joseph Wards borrowing proposal was made by a man who had failed once and was asking for another chance. Sir Joseph’s speeches in Parliament were quite out of harmony with his present proposals. No business man would make arrangements to borrow £70,000,000 over the next ten years at the prevailing rates of interest which were bound to fall. If be did, it would cost the country a few extra millions. A vote of confidence in Mr. Bartram and the Labour Party was carried with acclamation.
