DUNEDIN SEATS
PROSPECTS OF CANDIDATES (Special to THE SB&> DUNEDIN', To-day. It. is generally agreed that* the seats hold by the Hon. W. Downle Stewart and Sir Charles Statham are not gravely threatened by their opponents. The fight for the Dunedin South seat, vacated by Mr. T. IC. Sidey, is proceeding briskly between Mr. C. Todd (Reform) and Mr. R. W. Hall (Labour). Mr. Hail was formerly Mayor of St. Hilda Borough. The Mayor of Dunedin, Mr. William B. Taverner, is the United candidate, but his intentions seem to he uncertain. Mr. H. L. Tapley (Reform) will he run close by Mr. J. W. Munro (Labour) for the Dunedin North seat. Many consider that the Labour man will win. The United Party candidate. Mr. C. R. Smith, is not very well-known, while Mr. Munro has previously represented the electors. Tho fight for the Oamaru seat between Mr. E. P. Lee (Reform) and Mr. J. A. MacPherson (United) will be close. *
