INJURED BY BACK-FIRE
ACCIDENT AT WHAKATANE AUCKLAND VISITORS’ HOST (From Our Own Correspondent) WHAKATANE, To-day. A well-known Whakatane resident, Mr. Alec Canning, had his right arm broken to-day, during the visit of the touring commercial men from Auckland. He had led a procession of over fifty cars in a spin along Ohope Beach, and returned to town at noon intending to show Messrs. C. F. Bennett and A. C. Lunn some property. They all returned to Mr. Canning’s home to get into another car, which refused to start. Mr. Canning went to crank the car, but/the engine back-fired, and the handle struck Mr. Canning such a blow that he broke his arm.
