HAMILTON NOTES

(From Our Own Correspondent) Mrs. W. Jeffrey, of Te Awamutu, is holidaying at Brents in Rotorua. Miss Nan Monckton is at present in Gisborne, the guest of Mrs. Gardner. Miss G. Wright, of Te Aroha, has been spending a short holiday with Mrs. D. McGhee, in Kemuera. HAMILTON CROQUET COURTS* OPENING On Wednesday the president and members of the Hamilton Croquet Courts had a very pleasant opening afternoon. The president, Mr. H. Howden. welcomed the visitors and declared tho lawns open. Mrs. L. Sheppard played the first ball. Various croquet competitions were held, the winner of the progressive croquet being Mrs. fc?cott and Mrs. Rockell; of the target Mrs. Wigzell; and the clock golf Mrs. Allen. Among those present were Mesdames R. Coombes, president of the South Auckland Association: A. Rockell, Mercer, Menzies, Earle, E. Wilkes, Jane, Morris, Hodgson, Conradi, Roberts, Mason, Saxon, Lucas, L. Sheppard, Honeyfield. Redmond, Webster, Scrimshaw. Hobbs, D. Andrews. De Lacy, Hambly (Melbourne), Scott, O’Brien. Hodgkinson, Wigzell, Yorke, Davis. McDonald, Holberg, Steele, Misses D. Wilkes, Cummings, Ross, 11. Prentis, Cairn, Williamson,. RUAKURA STUDENTS ENTERTAINED Mrs. 11. Valder gave a jolly evening for some of the Ruakura farm students on Thursday night in connection with, boys’ week, at her home in River Road. The young guests danced on the wide verandahs or played billiards. Mrs. Valder was w*earing a handsome gown of wine-coloured chiffon velvet; Miss Norah Valder was in black charmeuse and georgette, and Miss Molly Valder was in .a frock of fleshpink chenille. Others who helped Mrs. Valder were Miss A. Moore, Miss Val Watts, Miss B. Higgott, Miss B. Manning, Miss E. Ward. Miss C. Chi tty. -
