PLUNKET SOCIETY

At the monthly meeting of the Thames Plunket Society Mrs. K. N. Miller presided over the following: Mesdames J. B. Liggins, W. Sowerley, E. Newman, Cordes, Lambert, Mackay and E. F. Adams. The resignation of Nurse Perrin, who lias been connected with the Society for three and a-half years, was received with regret. She has been popular in the district, and was very painstaking in her duties among the mothers and babies. A farewell will be tended to her on November 1. The Government subsidy, £62 10s, to September 20 was received. As the amount in hand, £IOB 63 3d, would ncft be sufficient to meet requirements for the summer months, it }vas decided to hold a. street collection on November S. Nurse Perrin reported visits as follow: — Thames: Visits to room, 114 adults, 73 babies, 17 older children. Visits to homes, 52. Hauraki Plains: 50. Iverepeehi: Visits to rooms, 6 adults, 5 babies; homes visited, 13. Ngatea: Visits to rooms, 15 babies. 35 adults; homes visited, 7. Turua: Visits to rooms, IS adults, 15 babies, 2 older children; homes visited. 6 Waitakaruru: Booms visits, 18 adults, 9 babies; homes visited, 22. TAUMARUNUI BRANCH In the absence of the president, Mrs. A. W. Richter, the monthly meeting of the Taumarunui Branch of the Plunket Society was presided over oy Mrs. P. Keller. Present: Mesdames Ford, Norton, E>. Simmons, Johnston, C. P. Smith. Nicuolson, Wackrow, and the secretary, Miss M. Tomlinson. The monthly report presented by the nurse showed a satisfactory position, though a good deal of seasonal sickness had been prevalent. To the office 258 visits were paid, and 108 to homes. One case of malnutrition was on the books, but the baby was responding to j Plunket treatment. ’ Mr. H. E. Harcourt wrote offering to present the branch with a hand loom which had been made for him in Athens by a Greek carpenter, but it was regretted that as the society had no place in which to erect the novel gift the offer could not be accepted. • The Borough Council wrote granting
