“APPROXIMATE PRICE”
SWITCHGEAR TOO EXPENSIVE POWER BOARD DISAGREE In connection with the difference of £ 400 between the approximate price quoted and the account submitted by the Public Works Department, Hamilton, for the installation of the 11,000volt switchgear at Takapuna and Henderson sub-stations, a decision was arrived at by the Waitemata Power Board at this morning’s meeting. The board-in-committee recommended that the revised account received from the Public Works Department, Hamilton, amounting to £1,868, be paid, less an amount of £2OO for two check meters at Henderson and Takapuna, which the board wished the department to take back and credit them with, and that the board’s engineer be authorised to purchase sugstitute meter equipment. When the matter came up for discussion, the chairman, Mr. J. W. Hayden, said they should go into committee.
Mr. Kennings objected, stating that the letter had been discussed openly at the previous meeting. Mr. T. Lamont supported the suggestion to go into committee. The question was discussed, and the board’s recommendation was adopted in the meantime.
