“THE ESCAPE” AT EMPIRE
Thrilling night scenes, dramatic gun battles, intense love sequences and a good smattering of human interest, are the highlights in “The Escape,” a Fox Films production, now being shown at the Empire Theatre, starring Virginia Valli. Centring about the life of a girl who is determined to escape the sordid surroundings of “The Kettle” and New York night club life, the screen version is packed with human interest from the opening shot, in Gotham’s tenements, to the dazzling glitter of the Blue Moon Night Club, where world denizens hold undisputed sway. It Is one of the most graphic photoplays seen in many months. “Sally In Our Alley.” with Shirley Mason as Sally, will also be shown Adolphe Menjou’s first starring production under his new Paramount contract is “His PHvate Life,” from an an original story by Ernest Vajda. Mrs. Menjou, formerly Kathryn Carver, plays the feminine lead. Frank Tuttle is now directing the picture. Kathryn McGuire, one of the most picturablo girls in the films and one selected by James Montgomery Flogas the representative type of American beauty, has been cast in support of Ted Wells in “The Border Wildcat ' Others in the cast include Toni Loudon and William Malon.
