DISPUTE OVER BET
labourer uses direct ACTION NO ILL-WILL BORNE John James Wells’s belief in direct action coat him £1 at the Police Court this morning. Wells, a labourer, aged 37, pleaded juilty to assaulting Patrick David dayes. As tar as Sub-Inspector McCarthy Uiew, the attack was toe result of a dispute over a bet. Wells had hit the other man on the jaw, knocking him out for a few seconds. Hayes had, dowever, not wanted to lay information against Wells, but Sergeant Angland happened to be on hand, and he did it Instead.
