“UNTO THIS LAST"
ROTARY CLUB ADDRESS An address entitled “Unto This Last.” being a review of John Ruskin’s essays, was given to the Rotary Club’s luncheon to-day by Mr. Barry Coney. Tho speaker said that although Ruskin was still looked ®n as the thing to read at girls’ schools, he had not the same hold on the public as he had years ago. The “Unto This Last” series of essays were published in the Cornhill magazine in IS6O, and their trend was then thought to be radical. They dealt with the relations between employers and employees and stressed the advantage of honesty. The establishment of Government schools where the laws of health and habits of gentleness and justice, as well as the craft of tho child’s calling should be taught, was advocated. Ruskin went on to define wealth and riche«s. He said that wealth was not how much one made but how much one spent.
