BURDEN OF TAXATION GOVERNMENT PILLORIED Press Association. DUNEDIN, Monday. A feature of the anitaal meeting of the Forbury Park Trotting Club tonight was the strong criticism by the president, Mr. B. S. Irwin, and a Member of committee, ]\3fr. A. G. Neill, of the Government in regard to its action In having continued wartime measures in taxation. Mr. Irwin sard the Government had promised that with easier times taxation would be withdrawn, but the promises had ont been kept. Mr. Neill held that it was a distinct breach of faith fo.r the Government to continue taxation that was purely a wartime imposition. He moved the following motion, which, was carried unanimously:— “That this meeting of the Forbury Park Trotting Club considers the financial difficulties of trotting clubs are due to the continuance by the Government of excessive taxation for war purposes, and strongly urges the granting of immediate relief.”

Enquirer: —Great Bingen holds both the two mile record for fastest placed time (4.19 2-5) and winning time (4.21). The former was registered at Alexandra Park on December 31, 1926 and the latter when he won the York Handicap at Addington on March 15, 1927. Off a 4.21 mark Great Bingen finished fourth in last year's New Zealand Cup, and it is quite reasonable for you to assume that he will not be further back than 4Syds (4.22) in this year's contest.
