SHOCKED BY LONDON

ADELAIDE POLICEWOMAN LONDON, August 21. Miss Daisy Curtis, an Adelaide policewoman, has been shocked by the very , common spectacle of young children sitting outside public-houses while their mothers are inside drinking. “This aspect of London life depresses me very much. It is a blot which should be wiped out. No other city would tolerate it,” Miss Curtis said to a representative of the “Evening News.” Miss Curtis has been on a twoyears tour of Europe to study women police methods. She spent several months in London and other English and Scottish cities. She also visited Geneva, Oslo, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Hamburg and Rotterdam. She has devoted considerable time to studying night life, sometimes patrolling with the local women police. She often talked to the -derelicts on the London Embankment, and was struck by the number of Londoners who seem to be homeless at night.
