BANKRUPTCY ACT
ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT ACCONTANTS’ SOCIETY MEETS “Desirable amendments have been made to the Bankruptcy Act,” said Mr. Ernest W. Hunt, president of the New Zealand Society of Accountants, at the annual meeting yesterday afternoon. Mr. Hunt added, however, that there remained room for improvement. An Act which required attention urgently was the Companies Act, which should be brought up to date and In line with the Act in England. Concerning the audit of solicitors’ trust accounts, Mr. Hunt said it should be understood that if the satisfactory regulations had been drawn up in consultation with the society, the audit irregularities which had occurred could not have continued.
