WHEELER AND SONS PHONE 25-541 A RIVET LESS SHIP.—The first livetless ship to be built in the United States, the Pioneer, an oil barge, has been launched at the establishment of the S. O. S. Welding Company, South Brooklyn. states the “Shipping World.” It was built for the Supertest Petroleum Company of London, Ontario, and is to transport petroleum products between New York and Montreal. While under construction the Pioneer was subjected to severe tests to determine the dependability of the welded joints and through- , out the tests showed no sign of strain. : The barge is 102 feet long, 20 feet broad. ! and 8 feet deep, with a gross register of 168 tons.
