PURDY RETURNS
SUCCESS IN AUSTRALIA The Auckland light-weight, Charlie Purdy, returned to Auckland by the Limited this morning. Purdy arrived in Wellington last week, and on Thursday evening fought Jack Carroll, the welter-weight champion of Australia, the New Zealander losing on points. During the time that Purdy has been in Australia he was very successful. He won the lightweight championship of Australia, but lost it a month or two later. The Aucklander will spend a holiday in this city, and. will endeavour to secure matches.
