A sugar-cane train In tlie Childers district toppled off a bridge into a ; gully 15 feet below. ’■ The driver, Alfred Hi tollman, was j pinned by a leg, which was crushed, j/ He retained consciousness for six j hours while the fireman was trying | to extricate him, and the guard was looking for medical assistance, but died shortly after he was rescued. A Maryborough message states that a stock train and a goods train collided at Croydon Junction. Several waggons were smashed to matchwood, but nobody was hurt.
