“FIRST AID” FIRE-PLANT PAPATOETOE’S NEW ENGINE The fire-lighting equipment, recently ■ purchased bv the Papatoetoe To\Vn Board, was taken over on Saturday morning. Pending the water reticulation of the district the engine has been fitted with .1 first-aid fire equipment, comprising a 60-gallon tank to carry water, and 250 l'eet of first-aid hose. Working at a pressure of 1201 b. to the square inch, the pump will throw the i jet of water approximately 40 feet, j An intake hose wilk be fitted to the equipment, to keep the auxiliary tank full of water from the house tanks. The engine, complete with first-aid equipment, ladder, hoses and hydrants cost £SOO. BAY OF ISLANDS ROADS The Xo. 1 District Council of the Highways Board has decided to concentrate this year on the road between Whakapara and -Waiomio.
