NEW RAILWAY WORKS
NOT FOR UNEMPLOYED OF ROTORUA (From Our Own Correspondent) ROTORUA, Sunday. “In spite of strong representations to the contrary, the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. K. S. Williams, informs me that the work on the Roto-rua-Taupo railway is being reserved in the meantime for the men who have finished working on the TaurangaTanteatua railway.”
This reply from Mr. F. F. Hockly, M.P. for Rotorua, *has been received in reference to unemployment in the district. “It will not be possible to place on the Taupo section the men from the Rotorua district who had not previously been employed on the railway works.”
