VALUABLE CARGO

£12,000 IN HORSE-FLESH ULIMARQA’S CONSIGNMENT TREK TO AUSTRALIA CONTINUES (Special to THE SUN) WELLINGTON', Friday. A big - batch of horses left Wellington for Australia this afternoon, and there was a good gathering at the wharf to see them loaded. Most interest, of course, was taken in Limerick. As far as can be gathered Limerick is in exceptionally fine condition, and the spring campaign in the Commonwealth is being undertaken with supreme confidence. Others whom F. 33. Jones had with him were Arikiwai, Roscrea, Lighthearted, Island Fastness and Gay Crest. Limerick will have four and a-half weeks in Sydney before he is* asked to race, as his first engagement, that at Warwick Farm, will not be till September 1. No further information was available this afternoon as to whether Limerick and Roscrea would race at Flemington or would remain and race the whole time at Randwick. Limerick has won more than £31,000 in stakes, and one of the most interesting phases of his trip will be his attempt to lower Gloaming’s record. At present he requires between £II,OOO and £12,000 to head off the old champion. Masterton Pair The Masterton trainer, J, F. Laly, went across with Hynanna and Thurnbell, both of whom are said to be in first-class order. They are to go on to Caulfield after a spell of a week or two at Randwick. Tione and Lilt went over in the care of C. Christie, and are to be joined by Idun and Orewa, and go on to Western Australia to carry Mr. R. Acton Adams’s colours there. Tione, of course, is a brother to Roseday, and Lilt is a three-year-old by Lucullus from Lisp. Mr. H. P. F. Blundell’s rising three-year-old Boston, by Tea Tray from Lady Cilia, was sent across in Jones’s charge. He is to go into George Price’s stable at Randwick, and will be prepared for the A.J.C. 33erby. The South Island jockey, L. J. Ellis, went over with Jones to do the light riding of the members of the Riccarton trainer’s team. L. 33aly and G. Ridgway accompanied T. Laly’s team to do the riding. Also aboard was the trainer, A. J. Shearsby, who might remain in Melbourne. DARGAVILLE’S NEXT PROBABLY AT AVONDALE ANNUAL MEETING OF MEMBERS There is every prospect of the Dargaville Racing Club holding their next annual meeting on the Avondale Racecourse, the dates suggested being November 1 and 3. This fact was elicited at the annual meeting of members of the Largaville Racing Club, held on Thursday night at Largaville, there being a most enthusiastic attendance of about 125. The president, Mr. G. N. Hayes, was in the chair. The annual report disclosed a small profit on th© year’s operations. A lively interest was manifested in the election of officers, there being contests for positions of president and for three stewards. The election resulted:—Patron, the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates; president, Mr. F. J. Largaville; vice-presidents, Messrs. A. J. Finch, H. Kimber, B. Coleman; stewards, Messrs. H. Massey, A. Anderson, B. Coleman. Included in the general business was a recommendation that the subscriptions be raised to two guineas a year for five years, that the rules be revised and the bank guarantors made life members. At a subsequent meeting of stewards Mr. F. P. Dargaville was re-elected chairman. A letter was received from the Avofidale Jockey Club offering the free use of the course for the spring meeting, November I and 3. The offer was accepted with thanks. A programme of 16 races was drawn up and ordered to be sent to the district committee for approval. The stake for the Largaville Cup, one and a-quarter miles, ©n the first day, will be £4OO, and for the President’s Handicap, one mile, on the second day, £ 350. Mr. C. O’Connor was appointed starter, Mr. J. Cockerton assistantstarter, and Mr. F. J. MacManemin judge and handicapper. Other officials for the meeting were also appointed.
