TAXICAB MYSTERY
DRIVER DISAPPEARS AFTER ACCIDENT POLE IN QUEEN STREET SMASHED A taxicab turning the corner of Fort Street and Queen Street about 8.30 last evening ran into and broke one of the verandah poles outside Fowld’s shop. The windscreen of the cab was smashed and the radiator damaged. Immediately after the accident the driver, and only occupant of the cab disappeared and traffic was held up until it was taken away by the police. It is said that it was unlawfully taken from its stand while its driver was away.
