Mr Bernard Dudley Ryder, F.R.G.S., has arrived in Auckland from the South, en route to Sydney.

Mr A. C. Capamagian, a prominent official of the Waikato Trotting Club, arrived from. Hamilton this morning.

Sir Apirana Ngata, M.P., is expected In Auckland next week to confer with Te Akarana Maori Association members.

Major-General Sir Andrew Russell, of*Hastings, arrived in Auckland this morning. He is staying at the Grand Hotel.

Mr. E. Casey, Divisional Superintendent, North Island Railways, returned from Wellington this morning by the Limited.

Mr. E. Copsey, a member of the Auckland City Council, has been granted three months’ leave of absence on account of illness.

Mr. B. P. Hopkins has been admitted a barrister of the Supreme Court by Mr. Justice MacGregor, on the motion of M.r. Spencer Mason.

Mr. W. Goodfellow, managingdirector of the New Zealand Cooperative Dairy Company, arrived at Frankton Junction this morning by the Limited.

Captain F. Mclndoe, who has been representing the Auckland Merchant Service Guild at a sitting of the Arbitration Court, left for Wellington last evening.

Mr. W. J. Holdswortli, chairman of tile Auckland Power Board, who has been attending a conference of power boards in Wellington, returned to Auckland this morning.

Mr. R. H. Bartley, general manager of the Auckland Power Board, returned from Wellington to-day after attending a conference of power boards there. He was accompanied by Mr. N. M. Speer, secretary of the Auckland Board.

Mr. J. W. Hayden, chairman of the Waitemata Power Board, Mr. G. Trevithick, a member of the board, and Mr. A. Main, secretary, returned from Wellington this morning. They have been attending a conference of power boards.

Councillors E. Copsey and S. I. Crookes have each been granted leave of absence by the City Council. The former is recovering from an illness, and it is Cr.
