A NICE PAIR
r PHE Canterbury mentor, W. J. Tomkinson, who secured the trainers’ honours for the season just terminated, will hold a strong hand in the premier trotting events at the forthcoming Addington carnival with Elzear and Young Blake. Both square-gaiters are in the first flight, and have put up some fine performances this season. Young Blake showed at Alexandra Park recently that he is in rare trim and if the footing is good during National week he will keep things moving in whatever heats he harnesses up for. Elzear won the Dominion Trotting Handicap last spring, coming from a long way back to pull the stable’s backers out of the fire. This mare has speed to burn and when going correctly has few superiors at the game.
