“BRINGING UP FATHER” AT GRAND
“Bringing Up Father,” a comedy based on the well-known newspaper cartoons, wall be shown this evening at the Grand Theatre. It is straight comedy, laugh piled on laugh, but, by a deft handling of plot and action, there are delicate little touches of heart interest, too, such as the love of a father Cor his child ana the romance of two young people. Incidentally it is a little lesson in the great opportunity America holds lur workers, although it was not intended at all to point to any moral in the storv. In fact, laughs and entertainment were the only obieet, and of both there is plenty. Farrell McDonald and Polly Horan are the stars.
Contrary to the belief of many people, it does rain in California; when it does it is the constant worry of directors making pictures in which extensive exterior scenes are needed. During the filming of “The Rawhide Kid,” the Universal Western starring Hoot Gibson. the rain cost the company many hundreds of dollars and caused weeks of delay in the making of the picture. The company made a location trip to Zion Park, Utah, and were forced to wait days until the sky cleared sufficiently to permit photography.
