Rippling water. In remote And dim recesses Of the brain, H alf-forgo tten, Maori names Are making patterns Once again: Kowhai, ngaio, Manuka, Koromiko, Matipc Maori names, Each distinct As a bellbird’s note, Blend in rhythmic Flowing music With the sound Of rippling water, Rippling water. DORA WILCOX. Sydney. TRIOLET (Written for THE SUN.) Forget this love? . . . That cannot be: A. slave may not dismiss his master! And then, ’tivas this you said to me—- “ Forget this love that cannot be, And, let’s be friends.” Why, certainly. (Who fled so soon deserved disaster!) Forget this! . . . A NEW ZEALANDER’S BOOK OF VERSES “Blue Magic,’’ a book of verse by the young Dunedin poetess, Marna Service, will be on sale shortly. The book is being sponsored by Mr. C. A. Marris. The title poem “Blue Magic” first appeared in The Sun, Christchurch, when it won a Christmas competition open to all New Zealanders. An achievement in colour and atmosphere, the poem was penned while its author was still a schoolgirl. Her other verses reveal imaginative qualities -with Puck-like flashes of imagery. The book will contain some charming illustrations chiefly in silhouette.
