HAMILTON NOTES

(From, Our Own. Correspondent) GOLF AND BRIDGE Yesterday the Middlemore women golfers had a most enjoyable day’s golf on the Hamilton links, when they played a team of Hamilton women. The visitors were captained by Miss Reid, the team being Miss E. Culling, Mrs. Hodges, Mrs. J. Wilson, Miss M. McFarlane, Mrs. Abbott, Miss F. Rathbone and Miss 13. McGovern. The Hamilton players were Mrs. Mander, Mrs. Guy, Miss Wilkinson, Mrs. Gower. Mrs. E. Bay, Mrs. Milfc'oy and Mrs C. Bennett. Singles and foursomes were played, the visitors winning all the singles but two, and three of the foursomes, the fourth game ending all square. As a finale to a delightful day’s golf the committee of the Hamilton Golf Club arranged a bridge party lor the visiting players. The bridge took the form of a team’s match —Aliddlemore v. Hamilton. The party was held in the lounge o! the Lyceum Club, the decorations being bowls of early daffodils and roses.

The hostess was Mrs. Pat Stewart, the president of the Hamilton Club. The players were Mesdames Rainger. Seaville. J. Wilson. Abbott, Hodges, from Auckland; Mesdames H. Douglas. H. T. Gillies. T. BRIDGE FOR HOW ARB LEAGUE Rast evening the committee of the Howard Reague arranged a bridge party in aid of funds for prison reform at Mrs. H. Valder’s home at Edingthorpe. The large billiard room was decorated with jonquils and bowls of violets and shaded primulas. There were 10 tables arranged for bridge. A delightful supper had been provided by the committee, the committee being, president. Mr. Be Ra Mare; hon. secretary. Mi's. E. English; and committee. Mrs. Whitehorn, Miss E. Bowrie and Miss M. Valder. Mrs. M. Valdei*, the hostess, received her guests wearing a frock of burgundy red velvet. Miss M. Valder was in alice blue crepe de chine. Those present were: Mesdames PI. POST AND TEREGRAPPI BARR The Regent Ballroom, with its many coloured streamers and a huge bunch of gay balloons, made a most effective setting for the Post and Telegraph ball on Tuesday night. The floor was excellent fox* dancing and the Regent Orchestra provided the music. Buring the evening an exhibition of the Yale Blues by Miss Gladys Bepz and her partner was given. The hostess, Mrs. Rees, received her guests in a vei'y pretty fi'ock of cherry georgette. The members of the committee were: Mrs. Colvin, who wore jade georgette and silver. Mrs. Elmsley, turquoise blue, with diamante. Mrs. Hendry, almond green, beaded with gold. Mrs. Buchanan, in gentian blue tarfeta.
