Nosworthy at a public meeting last evening asking him to reconsider his expressed intention not to contest the Mid-Canterbury seat. Mr. IN'os worthy said that, seeing that Mr. David Jones had announced his candidature, he did not wish to appear mean or to court office. The position now seemed very complicated.

It was it question whether Mr. Jones would seek another electorate, which, of course, he would have had to do if the speaker had said he would stand when the electorates were first amalgamated. Perhaps Mr. Jones had already made arrangements for his campaign. Mr. Nosworthy promised his careful consideration before leaving for Canada, and would try to accede to the request.
