FIRST SHIELD MATCH WAIKATO V. AUCKLAND Provided the Remuera grounds are j not marred by rain the first match ! for the New Zealand Challenge Shield between Auckland (holders) and Waikato, should be a fast and interesting game. It will be the second representative fixture of the season, the first being the Town v. Country game played three weeks ago. The team to defend the shield will be the same to a man as the side which triumphed over Country by 9 goals to 4. The sole selector has chosen a powerful eleven and one well representative of the best material available. Waikato, which will also field a strong side, is confident of success, but ! will have to give a brilliant account of itself to lift the trophy. The challenger has not yet had the honour of holding the shield. All hockey players who wish to see the match will be required to pay for admission as is customary in such cases. Matches Postponed The management committee of the Auckland Hockey Association met on Tuesday evening.

All games which were to have been played on Saturday, August 4. have been postponed on account of the big League football match at Carlaw Park between. England and New Zealand. Protest Dismissed Thef protest lodged by Papatoetoe in its second grade match with University has been dismissed. Papatoetoe alleged that short time had been played. Wellington's Challenge ■Wellington wrote asking that the challenge shield match with Auckland —provided Auckland defeats "Waikato —be held earlier than September 1 as originally arranged. Auckland has therefore agreed to play the match on August 18, if the shield is still in its possession. Boundaries Rearranged By order of the New Zealand Hockey Association Auckland will lose a small part of her large piece of territory to Waikato. Auckland will hand over a track of country within a radius of live miles of Cambridge post office. Auckland regards the decision as a wise one. Christchurch expressed the hope that Auckland would throw open the White Horse Cup competition to the sub-associations of Waikato. It is not generally known that "Waipa has always been a sub-association of Waikato and has been allowed to compete only by special arrangement with the Auckland Association. Grounds Problem Although the special committee set up to go into the question of playingfields for next season has been investigating every likely source, no permanent home for hockey has yet been found.
