CR. MURRAY REPLIES THE JAFFE STATEMENT .‘COUNCIL SHOULD DEFEND ITS MEMBERS” Councillor W. H. Murray has now replied to the City Council's resolution in connection with the statement of Reuben Jaffe concerning Civic Square leases. The resolution recorded the seriousness of the statements, and for the ake of civic honour, expressed the opinion that Cr. Murray should take steps to clear himself. Replying, Cr. Murray comments on the letter of the town clerk conveying the resolution, and proceeds to remark that the council committee, whichever it was, that considered the Jaffp statement, had apparently paid no attention to his reply to Mr. Juffe’s “fiction" ~ Cr. Murray expresses the. opinion that the council should itself defend its members against outside attack and imputations, and asks if the council would favour him with any reliable legal opinion as to what steps could possibly bo taken, in addition to his statutory declaration already made before a solicit' -r.
