TWO ARRESTS

THEFT CHARGES TO FOLLOW DETECTIVES BUSY This morning William and Jack Collard were arrested in the Avondale Police District, and will appear at the Magistrate’s Court tomorrow to face a number of charges of breaking and entering and theft in the Avondale, Henderson and Mount Albert districts.

The will also face a charge of unlawfully converting a motor-car to their own use. The arrests were made by Detectives McWhirter, Sneddon and Mills, who, since the thefts, have been tracing the origin of the crimes. During the last fortnight several instances of houses being broken into in the Henderson and Avondale districts have been reported to the police.

The last of the series to be recorded was on Tuesday, when thieves broke into the premises of Mr. C. Little, tobacconist, and Mr. S. Elcoat, draper, at Henderson, and stole a quantity of goods. Many of the stolen goods have been recovered by the police.
