TO ENTERTAIN PRINCE
VISIT OF JAPANESE WARSHIPS “AT HOME” ON JULY 31 An “At Home” will be held by the City Council on the evening of July 31 to welcome the officers of the Japanese warships Idzumo and Yakumo. An item of heavy cost, supper, will not be provided. This is the result of discussion, at the last meeting of the council when complaint was made of the spending of money for such a purpose when there was so much hardship in the city. Some 2,400 invitations are being prepared. The visiting warships will be under the command of Vice-Admiral S. ICobayashi, and the guest of honour will be Prince Takamatsu, a younger brother of the Emperor of Japan.
