ALL BLACKS WRITE HOME
POSTAL OFFICIALS HAVE BUSY WEEK-END THE Post Office letter branch has just ended one of its busiest week-ends for many months. Between 5 o’clock on Sunday afternoon and 7 o’clock on Monday evening, over 2,250 bags of inward mail was handled. Large quantities arrived by the Aorangi on Sunday afternoon and were sorted immediately and the Southern consignment sent on by the Limited. Monday morning came with the rush of outgoing mail on the Aorangi for Australia, Europe and the East, and then yesterday morning 400 bags of letters arrived from Australia by the Marama. The visit of the All Blacks to South Africa has resulted in a huge increase in the amount of maii exchanged between New Zealand and Capetown. Usually only a small quantity of letters and packages arrives by each steamer, but yesterday the number of bags had increased to 28, showing that every member of the team must be an excellent correspondent.
