BEEF MARKET FIRM (Special to THE SUN) HAMILTON, To-day. Auctioneers report on the weekly stock sale held in the Frankton yards yesterday, as follow: Dalgety and Company, Limited: “There was a good yarding of beef. All prime quality elicited keen competition at an advance on late rates. Light weight steers, up to £lO 12s 6d; heavy cows and heifers, £S to £ll 2s 6d; inferior and light, £5 os to £6 15s; vealers, £2 15s. There was a moderate yarding of store cattle, which sold at late rates. Three and four-year Shorthorn steers sold at £7 8s; rough steers, £4 5s to £5 ss; 20 months steers, £5; yearling heifers, £3 Is 6d; store cows, £3 to £4; dairy cows, £7 5s to £11; dairy heifers, £7 15s to £9 10s. “There was a good yarding of fat sheep, the majority being of prime quality. LONDON WOOL SALES (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) (Australian and N.Z. Press Association.) Reed. 9.5 a.m. LONDON, Tuesday. At the wool sales 7,871 bales were offered, of which 2,686 were Australian and 4,227 New Zealand. There was a moderate selection of Merinos, chiefly choice spinners’ styles, and a large offering of slipes and greasy crossbreds. All centres were operating freely and there was a good tone, with prices very firm. New Zealands: Onmrinui, 22d top, 21d average; Mount White, 24£d; WFM, 32 jgd.

CHICAGO WHEAT MARKET (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) (Australian and N.Z. Press Association.) (United Service) Reed. 9.5 a.m. CHICAGO, Tuesday. Wheat.—July, 1 dollar 28 5-8 cents a bushel; September, 1 dollar 315 cents; December, 1 dollar 355 cents. MINING NEWS OHINEMURI. —The superintendent reports as follows for the fortnightly period ended 14 inst.: In the north section the north drive has been extended 8 feet, making a total distance of 943 feet. As this section is being explored by the telluride level at a further depth of 60 feet, this work has been suspended meanwhile. At a point 560 feet from the main crosscut leading stopes are being carried north and south on high-grade sulphide ore. It is apparent that this ore extends farther soum than was disclosed by the drive on the hangingwali of the reef. The telluride level was extended 29 feet, making a total distance of 2,153 feet. At this point the hangingwali of a reef was touched. A picked sample of sulphide ore assayed £5 6s a ton. .Exploration during the next few days will provide some definite information as to the value of the discovcovery. In the south section the drive from “F” crosscut has been extended 21 feet and is in sulphide ore for the full width of the drive. The present face is worth £5 2s 6d a ton. A leading stope is being carried along on the main reef ery. In the south section the drive south of the Silverstream crosscut. The reef here is 70 feet in -width, and this is being opened up ready for transport to the mill. The company’s metallurgist has almost completed the design and estimates for the remodelling of the treatment plant, which, it is anticipated, will be completed during the present year. ALBURN I A.—The manager reports as follows: During the past week wo have been engaged replacing timber in the Norwegian level Wo have also cleaned the level up and laid the tram line to a point 100 feet north of the western crosscut, with the object of prospecting a leader at this point which shows on the hangingwali of the footwall branch of the Orlando reef. When timbering this level some time ago this‘leader disclosed on the wall and a little stone showing nice blotches of gold was obtained.
