WARNING TO MARINERS npH E superintendent of Mercan--1 tile Marine, Auckland, reports that the scow Herald, with a cargo of coal is presumed to be adrift in a sinking condition in the Hauraki Gulf or beyond. She was last seen nine miles off Flat Rock, Kawau Island, at 9 a.m. on Saturday last, and was then drifting toward Great Barrier Island. A search for her has been unsuccessful. Masters of vessels are therefore warned she will, if still afloat, be a danger to navigation, and a sharp lookout should be kept for her.

COASTAL MOVEMENTS^The Daphne, which sailed shortly be- j fore noon to-day for Coromandel and Colville, is expected to arrive back at noon to-morrow. The Hauiti is to be dispatched at half past ten this evening for Kerepeehi. She is due back at Auckland at 1. o’clock on Wednesday afternoon. The Clansman sails as usual at 5 o'clock this evening for Russell, Opua, Whangaroa and Mangonui. She is due back at half past seven on Friday morning. She Is due here about the end of this week. The Union Company’s chartered steamer, Waimea, arrived at Auckland last evening from the East Coast and berthed at King’s Wharf. The vessel sails at 4 p.m. to-morrow for Gisborne and Napier. The Awahou arrived yesterday afternoon from the Coast and berthed at King's Wharf. She sails at 5 p.m. tomorrow for Hicks Bay, Tokomaru Bay and Gisborne. The Gisborne Sheepfarmers’ steamer. Tiroa, arrived at Auckland yesterday from the East Coast. The vessel is loading at King’s Wharf to-day and at noon to-morrow is to be dispatched for Hicks Bay and Gisborne. The Elsie Mary arrived last evening from the East Coast and berthed at King's Wharf to load for Gisborne. The Taniwha, due at Auckland at two o clock to-morrow morning from Paeroa, sails again the same evening on her return trip. The Claymore arrives at Auckland at half-past three to-morrow morning and sails again the same evening on her return trip. The Pono sails at four o’clock this afternoon for Whananaki, Tututaka, Whangaruru and Kerikeri. From Montreal, via Auckland, the Canadian Highlander was to have arrived at Wellington this morning to continue discharging. The Pipiriki arrived at Lyttelton on Saturday from Auckland and Wellington to continue discharging her Liverpool The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company’s motor-ship Taranaki is expected to arrive at Napier to-day from Port Chalmers The Cunarder Valacia at Wellington to-day from Liverpool, via Auckland. The vessel also discharges at Lvttelton and Dunedin. The Commonwealth and Dominion Line vessel Port Denison arrived at Lyttelton on Saturday from New Plymouth to continue loading for London, via Cape Horn
