A statement recently aj feared in the Press that a British firm had suggested to a Dunedin business man ar ingenious method by which the Customs authorities could be defraudcc by understating the value of goods imported on the cash-on-delivery system Investigating the report, Mr. Lambie the Brtisli deputy trade commissioner has ascertained that the document ir question was unsigned, being a printed circular from an Indian firm, and that the occurrence does not therefore re fleet adversely upon the high standarc cf commercial morality maintained b* British manufacturers and exporters.
