Mars and Maid of the Mountains failed to get off, Master Councillor and Pageant showing the way out of the straight from Andover, Peter Grattan, Harvest Chilc| and Admiral Lock, the last-named nearly capsizing on the bend. Over the first circuit Master Councillor was setting the pace for Pageant, this pair showing the way past the stands from Hohora, Harvest Child, Peter Grattan, Admiral Lock and. Andover. Along the back Luvan moved up, and with Andover were at the head of the second bunch. Two and a-half furlongs from home Hohora went back on Luvan and brought the latter down when she was in a good position. Repute £763, and the bracket Akenehi and Etta Cole £593, carried the money, with Raima entrusted with £460. Call Boy took up the running from the start and led past the stands the first time from Kolmar, Roez, Colonel Thorpe, and Etta Cole, with Anseline and Akenehi a long way back. The second time into the straight the order was still Call Boy and Kolmar, with Roez, Colonel Thorpe, and Etta Cole in attendance, and the next bunch, including Raima, Sebisca and Maxegin. There was little change for the next couple of furlongs, except that Raima and Maxegin moved up, the former hitting the front coming into the straight ahead of Kolmar, Call Boy, Maxegin and Bingen Starr, and nothing had a chance with the leader, Raima .whining easily by a couple of lengths and returning a remarkably fine price. Call Boy was second, a length and ahalf in front of Kolmar, and close up were Bingen Starr, Maxegin, Sebisca and Golden Gate. C. F. Gold Jacket Wins Well Except that he was supplanted in the lead over the middle stages, Gold Jacket was in the van for the greater part of the journey in the Mark Memorial. The bracket, Tom Thumb and Talaro, £899, was slightly better backed than Gold Jacket £854, while there was money also for Peterwah £693, and Sea Pearl £728. Talaro and Parkwood were slow off, and a little later Lady Dunmore and Parkwood got up. Gold Jacket hit the front smartly, and led after half a mile from Lock Moigh, with Dalmeny, Tom Thumb. Talent, Lady Dunmore, Peterwah, Talaro, Sea Pearl, Cardinal Logan and Peter Swift following in that order, Imprint being at the tail. There was not a great change in the next circuit, but the field began to bunch coming into the straight the second time, Gold Jacket and Loch Moigh being in the van together, Dalmeny, Tom Thumb. Talent, Lady Dunmore and Peterwah comprising the next bunch, with seven lengths separating this lot. A couple of lengths further back were Talaro, Sea Pearl and Peter Swift. Along the back Loch Moigh was beaten. Gold Jacket being in charge from Tom Thumb with three furlongs to go, Loch Moigh, Dalmeny, Talent (who broke here), and Lady Dunmore being enxt, Talaro and Cardinal Logan leading the remainder. Gold Jacket turned into the straight half a length in front of Tom Thumb, with Peterwah and Dalmeny together a length back, and Cardinal Logan. Lady Dunmore and Talaro following. Gold Jacket retained his advantage and won by a length and a-quarter from Peterwah, who finished strongly a neck in front of Dalmeny, who also came again over the last bit. Pageant Again Penalised two seconds in the Hobson Handicap, Pageant won his second race, coming at the finish with a brilliant burst. It was an interesting betting race, in which there was most money for Neerson, £1,063, the Pageant.Lingfield bracket £872, and Dillon Huon £B3O. Tony Victor led along tt«D back from Great Peter, Dillon Huon, Reremai and The Dealer. Passing the stands Tony Victor and Great Peter were the leaders from Reremai, The Dealer, Dillon Huon, Daytime and Neerson. Great Peter went to the front then and in the next circuit was attended by The Dealer, Reremai, Dillon Huon, Daytime and Van Rich, with a short gap back to Pageant and Gold Circle. Along the back Great Petqr began to tire, Reremai taking charge across the top and leading into the home stretch nearly a length in front of Dillon Huon, with Daytime close up and Great Peter, Pageant and Van Rich following. Reremai looked to have the race won half-way up the straight, but Pageant came with a rattle and obtained a half-head decision from Reremai, with Dillon Huon a length and a-half away third, two lengths in advance of Daytime. failed to go off correctly. __ Tamerlane « made the pace over the first circuit, being followed past; the stands by Tradesman. Tiger Salve.
