DEAR EXHILARATION
WHISKIES_COST £25 MAN intoxicated in car WOMAN KNOCKED DOWN Two whiskies, 1s 6d, plus a £25 fine. It was a dear day yesterday for Clive Horace Parr, contractor. aged 28. Farr pleaded guilty at the Police Court to-day to a charge of being intoxicated while in control of a motorcar in Karangahape Road yesterday. Sub-Inspector McCarthy said that accused, in attempting pass another vehicle, ran along the kerb of the footpath. knocking a woman down. It was found after the accident that Parr was definitely under the influence of liquor. Mr. Hall Skelton, who appeared for accused, said Parr had taken two whiskies, and not being a drinking man, this had upset him. The magistrate, Mr. F. K. Hunt, fined Parr £25, and would have cancelled his licence but for the fact that he had to drive a truck when engaged on his road-contracting work.
