Poppy Day Profits.—Poppy Day in Gisborne realised over £ 200 for the relief of unemployed returned soldiers. Home to China.—Two Chinese families arrived in Auckland to-day from Fiji by the Niagara. The babies in arms are being taken to see China. Maori Address. —Mr. George Graham, the Auckland Maori authority, will address the Xew Zealand League of Penwomen this evening on Maori affairs. Railway Time-table Altered.—The Railway Department advertises in this Issue particulars of alterations to its time-table which come into operation on Monday, April 30. Railwayman’s Death.— Frederick Ross, a surfaceman, married, aged 43, who was struck by a train on Saturday night near Invercargill, while going home on a jigger, died in hospital. Baby’s Death. The baby. .Inn** Faulkner. who scalded herself at Tuatapere on March 26 through upsetting a kettle of boiling water over her shoulders, died in the Southland Hospital on Saturday. She was a year and five months old. House Destroyed—A six-roomed house at Xew Plymouth, owned by Mr Russell lioby. and occupied by Mr. Bruce Joll. was totally destroyed by firo this morning. Insurances on the house amounted to £3OO and on the furniture to £2OO.
