MR. T. W. THOMPSON *(From Our Own Correspondent) WHAKATANE, Thursday. I The death of Mr. Thomas William Thompson, of AVhakatane, occurred at his residence yesterday after a brief illness. Mr. Thompson came to New Zealand from London as a young man. About 12 years ago he came to Whakatane and started in business. He always took a very keen interest in the progress of the district. He leaves a widow and three young children. MR. THOMAS TAPP (From Our Oxen Correspondent) HUNTLY, To-day. The death occurred on Tuesday of . Mr. Thomas Tapp, of Waikokowai, j near Huntly. He was 70 years of age j and had been injured in a motor acci- j dent in which he had been pinned ; against a tree. Mr. Tapp was taken to the Hamilton j Hospital, where he succumbed to an | ■ operation. The late Mr. Tapp was born j ! in Kent, England, and arrived in New | Zealand 50 years ago, settling in the i Taranaki district. For the last 35 years i he had lived on his farm of 892 acres, | one of the best tilled farms in the Huntly district. The late Mr. Tapp was a very popular man and always closely associated himself with the affairs for the benefit of his district. He is survived by his widow and a grown-up family of six sons and four daughters. The sons ! are Ronald Childs Tapp, Norman L. Tapp, James A. Tapp, Cecil G. Tapp, Caleb R. Tapp and Kenneth S. Tapp, and the daughters, Mesdames Ginn, Capstick and the Misses Kathleen M Tapp and Gladys S. Tapp. ! The funeral was held at Kimihia, i and a memorial service was conducted !by the Rev. M. Gibb. The cortege was I one of the largest seen in the district. MR. EDWARD EVERETT (Australian Press Association) SYDNEY, Thursday. The death is announced of Mr. Edward Everett, formerly a business man in Nelson, at the age of SO.
