MOUNTEDS AT WHANGAREi (From Our Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, Thursday. There was a large attendance at the annual sports to-day of the North Auckland Mounted Rifles at their encampment at Kensington Park. All the events were well contested. Results follow: Victoria Cross Event. —Sergeant Hewlett and Corporal Finlayson <B Squad, ron), 1; Corporal Fraser (B Squadron), _. Tent Pegging.—Squadron Sergeant McKay’s team, 1; Corporal T. Moko’s team (A squad), 2. Wrestling on Horseback. —A Squadron, Dispatch Riding Relay( horse and foot). —Lieutenant Morrison’s team, 1. Flag Race.—Corporal Graham (A Squad), 1; Trooper Anderson (A Squad). Lloyd Lindsay Race.—Sergeant McDonald’s team (Headquarters), 1. Mile Race.—Trooper G. Kerr (Headquarters), 1; Trooper Owens (Headquarters), 2. This morning the Brlcade commander. Col. J. X. McCarroll, inspected the regiment, and the annual regimental ball was held this evening.
