AUCKLAND PIONEER DEAD

LATE MRS JESSY BAGNALL One of the early pioneers of the Auckland Province, Mrs. Jessy Bagnail. died at her home. Mason Avenue, yesterday at the age of 70. Born in London. Mrs. Bagnall came to New Zealand with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Steward, 63 years ago. and settled at Huntly, but .during the Maori War they were compelled to seek refuge in Auckland. Later Mr. Steward joined the gold rush to Thames.

For the first 17 years of their married life Mr. and Mrs. Bagnall lived it Turua but in 1899 they came to Auckland and lived at Ponsonby. Mrs. Bagnall was predeceased by her husband five years ago. She is survived by five sons and one daughter.
