TAX DUE TO-DAY
PAYERS LACK ENTHUSIASM NO QUEUES AT G.P.O. Auckland residents are not crowding into queues to pay their income tax to-day, the due date of the payments. The official who looks after miscellaneous payments at the General Post Office is not being rushed off his feet by eager tax-payers. The demands for payment went out on February 1. but probably a small percentage of Aucklanders will not insist on the Government taking the money until the last days of grace. To get the rebate the tax must be made before 5 p.m. on March 1. Yesterday there was a trickling stream of people to the counter, and probably about 200 payments were made. To-day no improvement is being registered.
