FIRE AT NAPIER
♦ TWO-STOREY HOUSE DAMAGED GOOD SAVE BY BRIGADE Press Association. NAPIER. To-day. An excellent save was effected by 1 the brigade when a fire occurred in a two-storeyed wooden building in Hastings Street late last night. The brigade quenched the blaze in excellent time, so that only Jie rear portion was seriously affected. The building was jointly occupied by Mr. K.en Evans, a photographer, Tung Lee, a laundry, and the Savoy Cafe. Some occupiers were rescued by the brigade from the front verandah. The building was owned by the White Swan Brewery Company and is insured with the Phoenix Company for £ 800.
